Investigating Dissolving

The question, 'How does water temperature affect the rate at which sugar dissolves?' was posed to Primary 7 this afternoon. They investigated by working in groups to add sugar to cold, warm and hot water and timing how long it took for the sugar to dissolve; keeping the test a 'fair test' was important so each time the same amount of water and the same amount of sugar was used in the same beaker, the same thermometer was used to test the water temperature and each beaker of water was stirred with the same object.
